Mr. Adam Pagnucco, Chairman
Crossing Georgia Committee

Dear Mr. Pagnucco:

Thank you for your letter concerning County support for an east side
of Georgia Avenue entrance to the Forest Glen Metrorail Station. The
Forest Estates Community Association and your Crossing Georgia
Committee have been very effective in community outreach and bringing
the pedestrian safety concerns to the attention of public officials.
I share your pedestrian safety concerns at the Georgia Avenue and
Forest Glen Road intersection. I will add the pedestrian tunnel
improvement to our list for full consideration in the joint County
Council and County Executive priorities letter to the State
Delegation. The County will continue to work closely with the
Maryland Department of Transportation and the Washington Metropolitan
Area Transit Authority to examine short-term pedestrian safety
improvements and to develop a scope of work to continue to examine
long-term improvements including the pedestrian underpass from the
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Forest Glen Station
Access Study.

The County contact for your follow-up is Mr. Arthur Holmes, Director
of the Department of Public Works and Transportation. Again, thank
you for your work on improving pedestrian safety.

Sincerely,

Isiah Leggett
County Executive
