A Forest Estates resident has reported that a man was hit as he crossed Georgia Avenue yesterday, just HOURS after the pedestrian bridge ribbon-cutting ceremony.
According to the police, the accident occurred on 8/29 at 3:35pm. The pedestrian, a 47 year old man, was struck by a southbound vehicle as he crossed eastbound across Georgia Ave. Two witnesses said they were all crossing against the light, though statements on the scene led the officers to believe that the pedestrian thought he had the right-of-way.
He was transported via ambulance to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
