"As we discussed when we met in person and as I discussed with many of your neighbors, I am fully supportive of a pedestrian tunnel under Georgia Avenue. The absence of a safe way for people to get from the east side of Georgia Avenue to the Metro is not just a public safety issue, but a traffic and environmental issue as well. I met a number of residents in the area who live just blocks from the Metro but will not take it because of the absence of a safe way to get there.

I understand that there is no real opposition to the proposed tunnel; there is merely a lack of funding. I plan to take a leadership role in Annapolis on this important public safety issue and look forward to working with you and your neighbors to get a safe passageway across Georgia Avenue built.
