"I am writing in response to your July 6 e-mail requesting that we consider supporting a pedestrian underpass beneath Georgia Avenue at the Forest Glen Metro Station.  I am very familiar with that intersection and I understand your concern over the hazards for pedestrians there.  The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has informed us this underpass would cost about $8-10 million to design and build.

The Executive and Council update our joint State transportation construction priority list annually.  Because we updated our list last November, we will likely revise it again after the next Council is installed this winter.  At that time we will consider the merits and cost of the underpass against the other projects on our current list, and prioritize it accordingly.  Please share this information with the members of the Forest Estates Community Association.

Thank you for sharing your perspective with the Council.
