County Council President Urges Action PDF Print E-mail
Following is the text of a letter written by Montgomery County Council President George Leventhal to the heads of the State Highway Administration, the Montgomery County Department of Public Works & Transportation and WMATA.

This letter represents an important first step towards improving safety at the Georgia-Forest Glen intersection. The county council deserves credit for focusing on the safety problems at our intersection and we will keep working with them for further improvements - Adam Pagnucco, Crossing Georgia.

Road Show Wrap-Up, 11/2/06 PDF Print E-mail

On 11/2/06, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the State Highway Administration (SHA) put on its annual Road Show presentation for Montgomery County’s statehouse delegation. MDOT and SHA use the Road Show to communicate their spending plans on transportation projects in Montgomery County to the county’s state legislators. At this hearing, the public was invited to watch but only state legislators were allowed to question MDOT and SHA officials. On November 20, the public will be able to testify about their priorities for state transportation spending.

County Council Transportation & Environment Committee Briefing PDF Print E-mail

The County Council’s Transportation & Environment Committee held a briefing this morning on the Forest Glen east-side Metro entrance. The committee held the briefing to hear information on pedestrian difficulties at Georgia Avenue and Forest Glen Road and possible solutions, including a new Metro entrance on the eastern side of Georgia. Committee chair Nancy Floreen and committee members George Leventhal and Tom Perez attended. Also in the audience to show support for the Forest Glen community were Valerie Ervin, the next County Council member from District 5, and Jeff Waldstreicher, who will soon represent District 18 as a state delegate in the General Assembly.
