The Gazette has reported on the failed WMATA development project at Forest Glen Metro. Read the article here. The article also mentions a zoning amendment that was introduced to try to increase the allowable density of the development - an amendment that was introduced without informing the surrounding communities.

No New Townhouses at Forest Glen Metro! PDF Print E-mail
We just learned from the Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board that WMATA has rejected all proposals for the development of the Forest Glen Metro site! We applaud WMATA's decision and are extremely relieved that there won't be additional congestion and traffic heaped onto the dangerous intersection of Forest Glen Road and Georgia Avenue.
 
PG Hospital closing to impact Holy Cross? PDF Print E-mail

Due to a combination of financial problems and lack of compromise between the state and Prince George's County governments, it looks as if the Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly may close.  The Post reports that "health officials have warned [this] would be a catastrophe to health care across the region as patients flood crowded emergency rooms at other facilities." 

Holy Cross Hospital is a very large facility that is known for treating lots of uninsured patients.  In addition to the obvious terrible impact on the area's over-stressed health care system, Georgia-FG and Holy Cross will be overflowing with new arrivals.
